A Life in Silks : Dev Diary #38

Last week, we completed successfully our first official production monthly sprint. At Super-Ecchi, we use Agile as our main development methodology.

All our month's goals & tasks were completed with success except for one but without significant impact on our overall production velocity.

In other words, we are on the right track with no significant blockers.

This month's sprint as already started, compared to the last, which was more focused on more higher level tasks like ex.:
  • Test printing & setting up the shipping process of crowd-funding rewards.
  • Commissioning new assets from our talented artists.
  • Testing out new components & templates for the mini-games.
  • Drafting new iterations & locking the main narrative path's script & character diary entries.
  • ......
For this month, we are focusing on building the Unity candidate for alpha. The beta candidate cannot be build until we have received most of the commissioned assets from our artists.

The reason we want solid alpha Unity version is because in the next upcoming sprints, we will focus more and more on integrating components & assets, so we need a solid platform.

All the R&D is pretty much done, we have a solid technical roadmap for the project so we just need connect all the content together into a cohesive experience.

This brings us to release dates, we have the following candidates:

September
Our original goal for the release version but more likely we will have a beta ready for playtesting within that month. But we will have all the t-shirts, stickers, wall scroll rewards shipped by September to our crowd-funding supporters.

October 1st
Our ideal date because the game's climax narrative scene is set during Halloween.

October 31st
An Halloween release, could still be fun...especially for those who want to finish the game in one sitting while still dress-up in their Halloween party costume & eating candy.

November
Nobodies at Super-Ecchi likes November, except for the Fall's weather but it lacks the holiday's spirit but it's still an option as a release target.

December
Another possible target release month, we will focus to get the game out before Christmas. Also if we see we need to release during that period, we will set a Christmas context to the beginning of the game so it feels seasonal.

We want to be always clear & honest with our supporters, fans & players about the status & release dates of the game.

Even if on the technical side, we have no blockers and we are extremely confident that we are able to produce the game with Unity, the commissioning & integration of the assets is a variable in our scheduling and might change depending the different factors that are not always under our control.

But one thing for sure, is that the game is going to be released and it's going to be a very original erotic gameplay experience!
